This is hard. The Effects are really on point which is true to Shudder original form, but the problem is the writing isn't quite there, the acting isn't quite there, the cgi is a little soft around the edges and all of that is also true to Shudder original form. The creature looked great, but it's not very nuanced. Lots of Invasion of the Body Snatchers vibes. We see it in a bunch of different forms which, on one hand could be the life stages of the thing, but on the other hand could be that the designers weren't quite sure what they wanted it to look like. Really the big factor of this film that lost points for me was the pacing. We start of promising with some nice science heavy dialogue which ramps up to some sweet practical effects but them drops off into every-infection-survival-movie that came before. It's a toss up. Worth a watch for the practical effects alone.
