DIRECTOR BIO
Matej Ugarković is a filmmaker from Samobor where he finished high school as a technician in hotel management and is currently studying business finance at the Faculty of Economics in Rijeka. During elementary school and high school, he was a member of theatre clubs. He discovered his love of film during college when he started making short animations based on RPG sessions with friends.

In 2024, he started to experiment with live action short films and for the first time posted his short films publicly through Youtube: "You're invited to a game - a horror short" and "Operation Evergiven - Blades In The Dark Intro". In 2025. he finished his third short film: "I Hope This Lasts - Short Film." He lists his own anxieties as the main source of inspiration. As a lover of horror films, he hopes to one day direct a feature film in the genre.

DIRECTOR STATEMENT
The short was created primarily to make fun of my own paranoia. Every time night falls, I keep thinking there's someone lurking in the shadows.

Well, what if there actually was someone in the shadows? Even worse, what if I didn't have time to properly check every corner because I had to make sure I don't burn the pizza and the whole flat with it?!
