SYNOPSIS
In an America hostile towards immigrants, an immigrant worker must resort to shady job openings to maintain his legal status. Finding himself in a dangerous job interview, he must decide whether a piece of paper is worth risking his life for.
DIRECTOR STATEMENT
Job Hunt is my first short film. It tells the story of an immigrant who, without sound legal standing in America, finds himself in life-threatening situations in order to secure a job. It is an exploration of the immigrant condition in contemporary America through the genre lens of horror. As a legal alien in the US, I’m compelled to give voice to the feelings of my own and many others in the best way I know how, that being the horror film medium.
The movie was shot over a weekend, with all post-production work done in two months. The production team went through virtually every single storage unit in the state of Connecticut to secure a filming location, and worked tirelessly to create day-for-night lighting environment with primarily two lights in interior settings. The final result is something me and my team are very proud of, and beyond excited to share.
