DIRECTOR STATEMENT
Lonely Count explores the idea that eternity can become a form of hell when it exists without love, companionship, or human connection. Through the story of a vampire who longs for death instead of immortality, the film reflects on loneliness, grief, and the search for peace.

The film was created during a difficult period in my life following the loss of someone very close to me, an experience that deeply influenced its emotional core. Choosing puppet animation allowed us, as student filmmakers, to bring this story to life in a handcrafted and intimate way, giving a handmade puppet genuine emotion and presence.

Ultimately, Lonely Count is a reflection on grief, isolation, and the hope that even in the darkest moments, the need for love and connection remains what makes us truly alive.

DIRECTOR BIO
I am Nikolas Nikolenas. I was born in Athens, Greece. Before I got involved with the making of animation projects, I began taking a seminar in Vakalo College in Comics and Storytelling, which helped me greatly in the making of all my short projects. I now, 22 years old now, study as an undergraduate student in AKTO College, with the goal to bring an urban and spooky feeling into my work.
