DIRECTOR STATEMENT
I am a firm believer that art stems from pain and discomfort, which are volatile topics prone to metamorphosis in order to create wonders. Changes that make us observe the nuances of humanity in so many forms, colors, sensations, and textures.
“Hunger” was born in the same way, from the vulnerability of love, because love has never been known as singular. Love is plurality, and that does not mean reciprocity either. Telling a story like Valentina and Gabriel's gives us a lot of scope to talk about what it's like to go through the journey of love. On the one hand, we have Valentina, who forgets who she is and her needs in order to be with the idealized person she loves, while Gabriel is insecure about leaving his safe place for fear of hurting himself in the attempt and hurting others.
I had the great pleasure of doing this project with great friends and being surrounded by people who loved the project from day one, even if it was still just flowing between neurons. That's what I wish for anyone who is planning to enter the world of cinema. I have learned with “Hunger,” both writing and directing it, that love is truly a complexity that can never be found in a single version. My team, my family, my friends, the cinema, and the audience that loves art were my hunger and my love.
