SYNOPSIS
A woman seeking isolation goes solo car camping but finds alone time scarce.
FILMMAKERS STATEMENT
We wanted to make a film that focuses on one character's struggle in raw, unadorned detail; a suspenseful, soulful, self-contained little story with offbeat twists and turns. We liked the idea of making something super pared down about a woman going through something complicated. Beth is searching for connection in a world where relationships can feel as tenuous as a campsite’s phone reception. We wanted to blend Alana’s improvisational acting background with a surprising plot which draws on personal experience as well as nonfictional accounts of inexplicable interactions. The film was shot with a five-person crew over 24 hours at a Hipcamp on a mountainous old avocado farm just outside Camp Pendleton.
