DIRECTOR STATEMENT
In my Homeland India, filmmaking is viewed as a less respectable
career option. People watch and praise films on commercial and
pop-corn-flick values rather than critical or artistic reasons. I'm a 19
year old Indian student filmmaker, headquartered in Hyderabad. My
twin and I have produced a few short horror films that have received
positive reviews from both domestic and foreign film festivals.
Additionally, I co-directed an independent feature film. The idea of
horror movies intrigues me, yet the Indian subcontinent doesn't see
as much of this genre. My primary goal is to produce surrealist,
nearly single-location horror films that will be remembered for the
experiences they deliver to viewers rather than for their narratives.
Maya Deren, David Lynch, Chantal Akerman, and John Cassavettes
are some of my filmmaking inspirations.
