SYNOPSIS
Looks can deceive. What begins as a routine evening soon unravels into a nightmare when something—or someone—invades the place they call home.
DIRECTOR STATEMENT
I wanted to explore the unsettling idea of a “compromised” safe space. Home is where we’re meant to feel most secure—but what happens when that space is invaded by something pretending to be someone you trust? While writing That’s Not Me, I flipped that feeling of safety on its head. The film was inspired by classics like Invasion of the Body Snatchers, and tonally, I looked to Hereditary for its slow-building dread and emotional rawness.
This project came together quickly—originally shot in just two days for a short film contest, where it took 2nd place and won the Audience Choice Award. Encouraged by the response, we chose to return to the project, filming additional scenes to deepen its atmosphere, tone, and visual storytelling.
I wore many hats during production—writer, director, actor, producer, and composer—which made the process incredibly personal. But it was also highly collaborative, especially with my brilliant co-star and cinematographer. That’s Not Me is a true labor of love, created with limited time and resources, but with an abundance of passion and dedication. I hope you feel that as you watch it.
