SYNOPSIS
On the anniversary of his sister’s Easter night disappearance, sixteen-year-old Johnny discovers that the town’s darkest myth may not be a myth at all. When a trail of chocolate eggs leads back to the past, Johnny is drawn into a terrifying sequence with an unthinkable cost. The Bunny is a brutal coming-of-age horror about grief, legacy, and the monsters we keep alive.
DIRECTOR STATEMENTS
ISAIAH:
The Bunny began with a simple idea: the Easter Bunny, a symbol of joy, celebration, and childhood wonder, whose one day each year brings happiness to the world. We wanted to take that familiar figure and turn it on its head, transforming something universally cheerful into something unsettling and sinister.
The film explores how tension and unease can grow in ordinary, familiar spaces. It relies on atmosphere, subtle performances, and minimalism, using pacing, framing, and silence to convey vulnerability. Every choice in The Bunny was made to serve mood, character, and tension, reflecting my approach to filmmaking: genre-driven yet character-focused, using horror to uncover deeper truths about fear, innocence, and consequence.
OSCAR:
The thought of the Easter Bunny existing as a nightmarish creature is what inspired this short film. Many mythical beings are portrayed as cute or friendly, taking that idea and twisting it into something sinister gave us everything we needed to make this film unsettling. With future horror and thriller projects, I aim to push boundaries as I primarily did in The Bunny, delivering stories that provoke unease and feel completely unusual.
