It's a classic example of a Shudder original. They spent all their energy on the gore and effects and let things start to fall off around the acting, writing, directing and plot, but honestly, I kind of like that. Son starts off promising with what feels like it could be a real interesting and original idea, but by halftime it has already fallen in line with a myriad of other demonic possession movies, cultiness or no cultiness. The child delivers a surprisingly well done creature performance, but his "normal" kid acting is almost as bad as his co-lead, mom. Maybe I'm not exactly the average consumer, but I and I think every other CHOMPR saw the big twist coming from way too early on. The blood icing on the rotted meat cake is the best look we get of the demon himself is just the back of his head. I expected more from Shudder.
