MONSTER DESIGN - There isn't a lot new here but still interesting.
MONSTER INTERACTION - I mean, IT'S BASED ON THEM FIGHTING VAMPS.
MONSTER ORIGINALITY - Although they were not very life changing, I appreciated their human qualities.
MONSTER FEAR FACTOR - Not many jump-outs which is nice but if i was a kid, this would mess me up.
PRACTICAL EFFECTS - some levitation and action sequences!
CGI/ANIMATION - I wasn't distracted by much here and liked the burning vampires after being stabbed.
FX MAKEUP - loved some of the burning cross moments and the nuanced vampirical make-up.
STORY - Love the idea of a boroughs fighting vamps!
CHARACTERS - At times, felt like the tropes of characters were pushed.
DIALOGUE - A mixture of stylistic comedy and youthful dialogue
I enjoyed this film. The commentary on colonization and fighting back against "supremacy," was nicely constructed. What I like about this film is the medium in which they recreated a "classic," story. The monsters themselves did not strike fear into me but I actually got invested in the kids creating an action packed plan to rid their homes of these dangerous monsters. I have discovered that I don't enjoy many vampire films and this is no exception. It is a bit of a classic movie that has brought itself to modern times. Overall, It's a fun time!
