💀Welcome to Bite Night Presents…💀
...a 501c3 nonprofit organization
based in Portland, Maine.
Our small, but mighty team—a diverse
and queer crew of misfits and weirdos—is on a mission to uplift other scruffy-minded
creatives like us.
Supporting storytellers internationally
with our online fest and showcasing our
local arts community with the annual
👻BEST PARTY ABOVE GROUND👻, our posse
is all about...
...collaboration, accessibility, and
support through opportunity, action
and good, spooky entertainment.

NO FREE BRAINS by Ciara Sergi
The main goal of our online festival is to offer as
much opportunity, support, and exposure to
as many artists, filmmakers, and
storytellers as possible.

Our submission process is powered by FilmFreeway—general submission $15, students submit free, open accessibility to fee-waivers—we keep our fees as low as possible and always make sure there’s a free option for those who need it because at Bite Night, no one is ever priced-out of sharing their art.
All film submissions to Bite Night are reviewed by the CHOMPR team and considered for selection to Bite Night’s online collection of horror shorts. Official selection comes with a personalized project page on bitenight.net, complete with video boxes—good for full screeners and trailers—as well as photo galleries, links, and more! Insta blasts, coveted Bite Night laurels, AND eligibility for awards like, “CHOMPR PICK” and “BEST IN BITE” (<----how we select shorts for our live programming).
Education and growth are big for us here. We encourage filmmakers to submit multiple projects and, for submissions that are not selected for the online fest, our CHOMPR team offers free in-depth and constructive written feedback, with a focus on strengthening good instincts, celebrating creativity and originality, and educating on current industry standards and tech.
