I'll be honest: I couldn't get through this completely. It's too intense, too violent for me. However, it has an overall strong, artistic look and a deeper reason for the horror as it explores the concepts of war and hatred. It was a bit too repetitive, but the monster is quite frightening and appropriate for the material--dark, haunting, violent, and not fully exposed (it retains its mystery). Pretty artsy for a horror flick. Horrible in the truest sense in that it gets into the atrocities of man against man. This is not escapism. It is grimy and gritty and unforgiving.
