PRESENTS

Worth a watch but don't expect to be blown away. This film reminds me a bit of Poltergeist. It's sort of a "feel-good" horror movie in that the scares aren't too terrible, the sadism is hinted at rather than explicit, and the underlying story is based on a good, old-fashioned haunting. Poltergeist, however, did a much better job with the characters and with using humor as a balancing mechanism. The ending, unfortunately, falls flat because the big reveal of the monsters/ghosts gets pretty darned hokey. A shame. The build-up was fairly well done.
