With high caliber special effects and makeup, a witty script and a crisp, high energy performance from leading lady, Brigitte Kali Canales, The Old Ways manages to put a fresh spin on the old and tired exorcism story. Director, Christopher Alender's, ability to transport his audience into the vast and lush world of ancient demons and civilizations is made even more impressive considering ninety percent of the story plays out in a single ten by ten concrete cell. The Old Ways not only towers over its company of mostly soulless Netflix horror fodder, but offers enough newness and pizzazz to hold it's own against other true staples of the demon possession arena.
